How Brown & Moodie Plumbing streamlined project management
Brown & Moodie Plumbing serves the industrial and commercial sectors of the building industry. They offer their customers a full range of plumbing and piping services with a focus on mechanical and hydraulic plumbing development. With offices and production facilities located in both New South Wales and Queensland, Brown & Moodie Plumbing needed an innovative reporting software to bridge the communication gap for their growing business.
Before Wink Reports
The line of communication between Brown & Moodie team members and their project management reporting process was very disjointed. They often found that some people in the company had information that others simply didn't.
“We wasted a lot of time trying to piece everything together so everyone was on the same page. Certain people were recording one aspect of the business while others were keeping tabs on other parts.” - Liam Neylan, Brown & Moodie Plumbing Logistics and Planning Manager.
Their Managing Director who oversaw operations at both their Queensland and New South Wales offices wanted to onboard a system where they could collect data and receive on-demand updates on team projects. The team would scramble to collect all their data via multiple spreadsheets across various active projects, and battle to piece everything together.
What they sorely needed was an effective, reliable solution - they were at great risk of letting their reliance on manual project management negatively impact their customer relationships.
That was before they onboarded with Wink Reports.
Going off the paper route
Brown & Moodie used Paperless as their business receipt and file management software, and Paperless introduced them to Wink Reports. In a win-win move, Paperless handled the data collection process while Wink imported the data, then assembled and delivered the reports. What immediately impressed the Brown & Moodie team was the range of functionality they could access with Wink Reports - to name a few:
- the ability to create as many users as they wished to have;
- the ability to implement filters within reports to make it project-specific;
- the option to send scheduled reports; and
- embed links that take the user back to the live report.
Liam Neylan was amazed that there wasn’t a report they wanted that couldn’t be made: “We used Wink to help track projects and it worked! It was very well worth the investment to find out if our company was winning or losing on a daily basis.”
While Brown & Moodie Plumbing used Wink Reports as a means to track and manage internal operations and project management to begin with, they started wondering how else Wink could help their business. They brainstormed other reports to create from Wink such as safety reports - who had injured themselves and what sort of injuries they had sustained. According to Neylan, they reached a stage where they’d developed about eleven reports related to safety.
A solution of continuous improvement
We asked Neylan if he would recommend Wink Reports to a friend.
“I’d absolutely recommend Wink because of the value you get for your money, ease of access for every user involved, and the fact that Wink is continuously working to improve and add value to its system for its users.”
